Lifting and positioning rolls
Heavy and awkward rolls often have to be lifted, turned and placed precisely on a machine. Our solutions take the weight of the load and make roll handling safer and simpler.
The problem
In production, rolls often have to be moved between the pallet, the storage position and the production machine, and placed precisely on a shaft, holder or other mounting point.
Because of their weight, dimensions and cylindrical shape, rolls can be hard to grip and control by hand. A further challenge arises when a roll has to be lifted from the floor, turned from horizontal to vertical or vice versa, and aligned precisely with the machine's mounting.
Handling such loads by hand often takes several operators, improvised aids or awkward working positions. At the same time, an incorrect grip or positioning risks damaging the roll, the shaft or the machine.
The heavier the rolls and the more frequent the changes, the more ergonomics and handling precision become an important part of the production process.
How we solve it
Depending on the type of roll, its weight, its dimensions and how it has to be fitted to the machine, we choose the right lifting and handling system.
The roll can be gripped through the core, from the outside or with a suitable support, then lifted to the required height and positioned precisely.
Where the process requires it, the equipment can also turn the roll from vertical to horizontal or vice versa, as well as rotate it in a controlled way before it is fitted to the machine.
Mobile solutions let the roll be picked up in one place and transported to the machine, while stationary or custom solutions can be used for repetitive processes.
The final configuration depends on the weight and diameter of the roll, its width, the core diameter, the required lifting height and how the roll must be gripped and fitted.
The equipment takes the weight of the roll while the operator controls its lifting, orientation and precise positioning.
Typical applications
Loading the roll onto the machine
Lifting the roll from a pallet, the floor or a transport device and placing it precisely on the shaft or mounting of the production machine.
Turning the roll
Changing its orientation from horizontal to vertical or vice versa before the next stage of the process.
Moving between workstations
Safe transport of the roll between the storage position, material preparation and the production machine.
Removing and changing rolls
Controlled removal of a spent or partly used roll and fitting of a new roll to the machine.
What our solution gives you
Less physical strain
The equipment takes the weight of the roll and reduces the need to lift, hold and turn a heavy load by hand.
More precise positioning
Controlled lifting and movement make it easier to align the roll with the shaft or other mounting on the machine.
Lower risk of damage
The right gripping method and controlled movement reduce the chance of damaging the surface of the roll, the core or the production equipment.
Faster roll changes
Easier lifting and positioning can shorten the time needed to change a roll and reduce production downtime.
