Heavy roll lifters and rotators

Safe lifting, transport, rotation and precise positioning of rolls up to 500 kg.

From the pallet to the machine shaft

Logitrans roll lifters and rotators let a single operator handle large, heavy rolls without lifting or turning them by hand. Rolls can be picked up from a pallet, lifted, turned from horizontal to vertical or back again, and placed precisely on the shaft of a production or packaging machine. Manual, electric and fully motorised versions are available, as well as versions with wide legs for picking up rolls from closed pallets.

The rotator grips the roll with two padded clamping arms, lifts it from the pallet and lets it be turned in a controlled way. The roll can thus be brought from the position in which it was stored to the orientation needed for mounting on the machine. Rubber-coated gripping surfaces give a firm but gentle grip, and a safety system stops the grip from opening until the roll has been set down on the floor or a pallet.

Once the roll has been turned to the right position, the final step of sliding it onto the machine shaft is often a problem of its own. The space in front of or below the machine may be too small for a conventional rotator.

The compact Reel Lifter can take a roll that has already been turned, transport it and bring it precisely to the machine shaft. Adjustable forks adapt to different roll diameters, and controlled lowering allows gentle positioning without the load dropping suddenly. The capacity is up to 500 kg.

Which rolls can we lift?

Paper rolls

Large, heavy rolls for printing, converting and packaging processes.

Film rolls

Plastic and other films that are mounted on packaging and production machines.

Rolls of labels and packaging materials

Rolls of different diameters that need precise positioning on the shaft.

Other cylindrical products

The system can also be used for other round products of suitable dimensions and weight.

The standard Reel Rotator accepts rolls of approximately 120–1,270 mm in diameter and up to 500 kg in weight, depending on the version and configuration.

A secure grip on the roll

The clamping arms use rubber-coated contact surfaces that give a stable grip with less risk of damaging the roll. The mechanism is designed so that the roll can only be released once it has been set down securely on the floor or a pallet again.

Electric versions also have safety limits on rotation at low height so that the gripping arms do not strike the floor or the chassis. The threshold depends on the chassis design.
