Lifting and emptying drums
In production and warehousing, drums are often lifted, moved, tilted or emptied by hand or with unsuitable aids. Our solutions take the weight of the load and make drum handling safer, more ergonomic and more controlled.
The problem
In production, warehouses and the process industry, drums often have to be lifted from the floor or a pallet, moved between workstations, placed on a scale, platform or process equipment and, where needed, tilted or emptied.
Because of their weight, cylindrical shape and often smooth surface, drums are hard to grip and control safely by hand. Turning a drum, positioning it precisely or emptying its contents in a controlled way is a particular challenge.
Manual handling often takes several operators or improvised aids, with a risk of sudden movement, tipping, slipping or damage to the drum and the equipment around it.
The heavier the drums and the more frequent the handling cycles, the more ergonomics, stability and control of movement matter in the work process.
How we solve it
Depending on the type of drum and the task, we use specialised equipment for safe gripping, lifting, transport, tilting and emptying.
The drum is gripped with a suitable mechanical or other custom gripper and lifted in a controlled way from the floor, a pallet or another set-down point. It can then be moved to the desired position and placed on another pallet, a scale, a platform or process equipment.
Where the process requires it, the equipment can also tilt or rotate the drum, so that its contents are emptied in a controlled way into a container, machine or other process point.
The solution is adapted to the weight, diameter, height and construction of the drum, as well as to the required lifting height and emptying method.
The equipment takes the weight of the drum while the operator controls its lifting, movement and emptying.
What our solution gives you
Less physical strain
The equipment takes the weight of the drum and reduces the need to lift, hold, tilt and turn it by hand.
Safer handling
Controlled gripping and movement reduce the risk of the drum slipping, tipping or moving suddenly during handling.
More precise positioning and emptying
The drum can more easily be brought to the desired height, placed next to process equipment and tilted or emptied in a controlled way.
A more efficient work process
Simpler handling reduces the need for extra workers and makes repetitive operations during the shift easier.
