Transferring raw materials between pallets
Sacks, buckets, boxes, crates, canisters and drums are still often moved between pallets by hand or with unsuitable aids. Our solutions take the weight of the load and make transfers faster, safer and more ergonomic.
The problem
Transferring raw materials and goods between pallets is a common step in production, warehousing and internal logistics. Material may arrive on a transport pallet and have to be moved onto a clean, plastic, hygienic or internal pallet before it enters production.
With boxes, sacks, buckets and other individual loads this is often done by hand – piece by piece. Over a single shift the operator can make a large number of repetitive lifts, often from different heights and from unfavourable positions.
Heavier, awkward or harder-to-grip loads, such as full sacks, buckets or drums, are a particular challenge. As the pallet empties or fills, the height from which the operator has to lift, or to which the load must be set down, keeps changing.
The result is greater physical strain, slower work and a higher risk of handling the load incorrectly.
How we solve it
For transferring boxes, sacks and buckets we use vacuum lifters that take the weight of the load while the operator guides its movement.
The load is picked up with a suitable vacuum gripper, lifted from one pallet and positioned on the other in a controlled way. The operator does not have to carry the full weight, only guide it along the desired path.
Depending on the product and packaging, the gripper is adapted to the shape, surface and weight of the load.
For drums we use specialised equipment that grips and lifts the drum safely. The solution can move the drum between pallets, lift it from the floor or a pallet and, where needed, position or tilt it as well.
The goal is the same in both cases: the equipment takes the weight, and the operator controls and positions the load.
Which loads can be transferred?
- sacks
- cardboard boxes
- crates
- canisters and containers
- drums
- other packaging and unit loads
What our solution gives you
Less physical strain
The equipment takes the weight of the load and reduces the need for repetitive manual lifting, carrying and bending.
Faster transfers
Easier gripping and positioning of the load allow more continuous work and less time needed to restack a pallet.
Safer load handling
Controlled lifting and lowering reduce the chance of dropping, sudden movements or an incorrect grip on heavier and awkward loads.
A more even work process
The work depends less on the physical strength of the individual operator, which makes it easier to keep a steady pace throughout the shift.
