Equipment handling in data centres
Servers, UPS modules, batteries and other equipment in data centres are often heavy, sensitive and need very precise positioning. Our solutions allow safer, more ergonomic and controlled lifting and installation of equipment with minimal physical strain on the operator.
The problem
In data centres and technical rooms, servers, network equipment, UPS modules, batteries and other components often have to be lifted, transported and placed precisely in rack cabinets or other technical positions.
The equipment can be heavy, awkward and sensitive to knocks, while the aisles between racks are often fairly narrow. A further challenge is installing components at different heights, including positions where holding the equipment by hand becomes especially demanding.
When replacing or servicing equipment, operators have to control the weight of the load and its precise alignment with the rails or mountings inside the rack at the same time.
Manual lifting increases physical strain, takes several people and increases the chance of damaging expensive equipment or the surrounding infrastructure.
How we solve it
We use compact mobile solutions for lifting and precisely positioning equipment that can easily be moved between racks and technical rooms.
The equipment is placed on a suitable platform or custom mounting, lifted to the required height and brought to the rack or other installation position in a controlled way. The operator can then align the load precisely and slide it into position without holding its full weight by hand.
The solutions can be used for installing, replacing and servicing servers, UPS modules, battery modules, network equipment and other heavy components in data centres.
The configuration is adapted to the weight and dimensions of the equipment, the required lifting height, the aisle width and how the load must be positioned.
The equipment takes the weight of the load while the operator keeps control over precise positioning.
What our solution gives you
Less physical strain
The need to lift and hold heavy servers, UPS modules, batteries and other equipment by hand is reduced.
More precise positioning
Controlled lifting makes it easier to align the equipment with the rack, rails or other installation position.
Lower risk of equipment damage
Stable lifting and controlled movement reduce the chance of knocks, drops or damage to sensitive and valuable IT equipment.
Safer work in a confined space
Compact mobile solutions allow work in the narrow aisles between racks and other spaces typical of data centres.
Less need for several operators
In many situations heavier components can be lifted and positioned with less manual help from other workers.
