Mixing and homogenising drum contents

Liquids, suspensions and other products in drums can separate, settle or lose their homogeneity during storage. Our solutions allow controlled mixing of the contents directly in the closed drum, without needless decanting or extra handling of the product.

The problem

During transport and storage the contents of drums can settle, separate into layers or lose the required homogeneity. Before further use the product therefore often has to be mixed again.

The traditional method may involve opening the drum, inserting a mixer or decanting the contents into a separate container. This means extra handling of the product and cleaning of equipment, and increases the chance of spills, contamination or the operator's exposure to the drum's contents.

With heavier 200-litre drums, positioning and handling them safely before, during and after mixing is a further challenge.

The problem is especially pronounced when homogenisation has to be repeated regularly or for a large number of drums during the production cycle.

How we solve it

We use equipment that grips and rotates the closed drum in a controlled way, mixing its contents without decanting them into another container.

The drum is safely gripped and secured in the unit, then rotated at a suitable speed for the time needed to homogenise the product.

This way the entire contents of the drum take part in the mixing process, while the product stays inside its original container.

The solution is adapted to the type and dimensions of the drum, the weight of the load, the characteristics of the product and the requirements of the process. Where needed, versions for more demanding industrial or potentially explosive environments are also available.

The product is homogenised directly in the closed drum, without needless decanting or extra contact with its surroundings.

What our solution gives you

Mixing without decanting

The contents are homogenised directly in the original drum, avoiding extra emptying, filling and moving of the product.

A cleaner, more controlled process

A closed drum reduces the chance of spills, product contamination and contact between the contents and their surroundings.

Less manual handling

The operator does not have to move or tilt a heavy drum by hand during homogenisation.

More consistent product quality

Controlled rotation helps re-homogenise the contents before further use in the production process.
